The Ukrainian State Flight Academy (UDLA) in Kropyvnytskyi is a state aviation academy and Ukraine’s leading institution for training civil aviation pilots, air traffic controllers, aviation engineers and air transport managers. It is considered one of the best international flight schools and a unique part of Ukrainian education.
The Academy traces its history to 1951, when a flight school for civil aviation personnel was founded in Kirovohrad (today Kropyvnytskyi); it later became the Kirovohrad Higher Flight School of Civil Aviation and in 1993 the State Flight Academy of Ukraine. From 2011 it worked as the Flight Academy of the National Aviation University and today again operates as the Ukrainian State Flight Academy.
Over its history the Academy has trained more than 110,000 aviation specialists, including over 4,000 for 66 countries. Its graduates work as pilots, air traffic controllers and heads of aviation services around the world. Training follows ICAO standards and uses the Academy’s own airfield, training aircraft such as the Diamond DA40 and DA42, and modern flight simulators.
International students apply for an invitation to study with their education document, passport and photo, then apply for a study visa. Pilot and air traffic control applicants must also pass a medical (aviation health) examination.
