Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine in Kyiv is a state university and the country’s leading institution for postgraduate medical education. It trains and retrains doctors, pharmacists and other healthcare specialists, supports their continuous professional development and introduces modern medical standards and technologies into Ukrainian healthcare.
The university was founded in 1918 in Kyiv as the Kyiv Institute for Advanced Training of Physicians. It later became the P. L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (national status since 2006) and in 2021 received its current name. Over more than a century it has become the main platform for postgraduate medical education in Ukraine: doctors from all regions of Ukraine and from abroad specialise here, taught by leading specialists in their fields.
For international doctors the university offers postgraduate education — PhD studies, clinical residency and internship in more than 30 medical specialities, from surgery, cardiology and oncology to pediatrics, dentistry and psychiatry — in Ukrainian or English. It also runs Master programmes in Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Pharmacy and Prosthetics and Orthotics.
