National University “Odesa Maritime Academy” (NUOMA) is a state maritime university in Odesa and one of the best-known maritime education institutions in the world. It was founded in 1944 as the Odesa Higher Maritime School, became Odesa State Maritime Academy in 1991, received national status in 2002 and its current name in 2016.
NUOMA is a leading educational, scientific and methodological centre that shapes the development of maritime education in Ukraine. Its main goal is to make its graduates competitive on the global maritime labour market. The university trains specialists in navigation and marine transport, ship engineering and automation, software engineering, maritime management and maritime law.
NUOMA is an active member of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and the Black Sea Association of Maritime Institutes (BSAMI), and its representatives regularly take part in the work of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as part of official Ukrainian delegations.
International students apply for an invitation to study with their school certificate, passport and photo. After the invitation letter is issued, the student applies for a study visa at the Ukrainian embassy.
