The National Music Academy of Ukraine — the Kyiv Conservatory — is the leading higher music institution of Ukraine and its oldest and most prestigious music school. It trains highly qualified performers, singers, composers, conductors, music teachers and musicologists, and is known for its strong traditions, creative atmosphere and high standards of performance.
The Academy was founded in 1913 as the Kyiv Conservatory, growing out of the Kyiv Music School of 1868, and received national status in 1995. From 1940 it carried the name of Pyotr Tchaikovsky; at the end of 2025 the Ministry of Culture removed this name as part of Ukraine’s decolonisation of cultural institutions, and it is now called the National Music Academy of Ukraine. Over more than a century its graduates have gone on to work in leading orchestras, opera houses, music schools and universities in Ukraine and around the world.
International students apply for an invitation to study with their education document, passport and photo. Admission includes a creative audition in the chosen speciality.
