Mariupol State University (MSU) is a state classical university of Ukraine. It was founded in 1991 in Mariupol as the Mariupol College of Humanities, a branch of Donetsk State University, became the Mariupol State University of Humanities in 2004 and received its present name and classical university status in 2010.
After the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022 the university’s buildings in Mariupol were badly damaged, and by order of the Ministry of Education and Science MSU was temporarily relocated to Kyiv. It has kept its teaching staff and programmes and continues its educational, research and international work in the capital.
MSU has six faculties and institutes: Economics and Law; History; Psychology and Pedagogy; Foreign Languages; Philology and Mass Communications; and the Institute of Management. It is well known for languages and translation (including Modern Greek and Italian), international relations, economics, law and public administration.
Programmes are taught in Ukrainian. International students can first take a one-year Ukrainian language course at the preparatory department.
International students apply with their education document, passport, photos and medical insurance, then receive an invitation to study and apply for a study visa. MSU admits international students in two waves (summer and autumn). Entrance tests are held at the university.
We help you with every step.
Students live in a dormitory of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, which MSU uses since its relocation; accommodation costs about 9,600 UAH per academic year. MSU organises cultural events and festivals where international students present their countries.
